Tiki Stationery

A pen pal recently wrote to me on some very chic tiki themed stationery. Above you can see the fun bamboo print on the envelope of the letter as well as the funky sticker used to keep down the flap.


The party continued inside, where I was greeted by this image in the upper left corner of the first page. I think it's a hilarious scene, because it begs so many questions. For example, why is the bartender upset, because he received small remuneration? And why is that shriner at the bar so dismayed... did he run out of cash, was he rejected by the woman at the end of the bar? I want to know! But alas, I doubt that I'll ever find out.

What's your take on the situation?

Maison Orlhac Letter and Envelope

Although I am not French, do not speak French, have never been to France and rarely eat French food, I really wanted to write a France themed letter. So I did. I wrote, long overdue, to a pen pal on some laid paper printed with my Maison Orlhac vintage letterhead. Something about this particular letterhead and that particular paper makes them go very well together.

Then, I used some heavy paper that I purchased at the Paper Cult going-out-of-business sale a couple months ago to make an envelope. As you can see from the photographs, the paper is printed with a travel theme.



Then, to finish the whole thing off, I sealed the envelope with a sticker that came in a set of vintage travel icons purchased at the same Paper Cult sale as the paper for the envelope. If it's not obvious already, I had a very enjoyable time putting this letter together.

Back to School Letter

In the back to school spirit (albeit, a little bit late), I wrote to the Missive Maven in a throwback style. I used lined Rhodia paper, wrote in pencil, and decorated with a fair number of stickers. Lastly, I touched it off with a civil rights figures postage stamp, very school-like.

This was a really fun letter to put together, it felt like I was writing a note to pass in between classes.

Check out this letter I recently received from a pen pal, isn't it wild? I just love the fuzzy monkey stickers and the use of glitter pen to make a creative address box. The theme was carried into the letter itself.


On the bottom of each page, my pal drew a vine footer around a set of page numbers.


And, she added these colorful touches next to her signature and on the outside of the envelope. I'm just bananas about them.


This pal has really set a high bar for creative snail mail. I'm not sure how I'm going to climb to her level.

Ok, I admit my failure to be creative with words in this post. Can anyone think of any better (or, rather, worse) monkey or banana puns describe this letter?

Punny Stationery

The Missive Maven got me again! She socked me right in the funny bone with a letter written on this punny stationery.

Under the Sea

These stickers and drawing came to me in a letter from a pen pal who had recently seen The Little Mermaid on Broadway. Could that be the inspiration?


No matter what the inspiration, I totally dug the the decor. The below image is from the envelope. The sender decorated the front of the envelope and then covered everything with a sheet of blue cellophane. Brilliant!

Cocktail Sticker

One of my dearest friends is getting married next month, and I was given the honor of being the only male invited to her bachelorette party. The individuals who put together the invitations did a smashing job on them, using textured papers, metallic paint markers and a few stickers with rhinestones.


This was my favorite of the set, located next to the return address. I always appreciate it when people go through the trouble of not only sending out an invitation to an event in the first place, but actually putting time and creativity into the invitations, such that the recipient truly feels honored to be invited to attend the event.
